Psalms Project

I have been spending a great deal of time in the Psalms, never a bad thing to do!
There is such depth and great prayers that can help in a time when words escape me.

Sovereign Grace Music is running a crazy sale over at their webstore, it would be a great time to pick up a copy of the wonderful Psalms project. One of my favorites from this project is Out Of The Depths, it's a great song based on Ps 130. It speaks to the fact that our greatest problem is not the trials that we endure but our sins that we commit against a holy God. We have such great hope though as believers, God has forgiven us through the shed blood of Jesus, so even when we don't understand our circumstances, we can trust that God is good and worthy of our praise and we can totally trust Him.

Out Of The Depths

Out of the depths, O lord, I cry to you
When I am tempted to despair
Though I might fail to trust your promises
You never fail to hear my prayer
And if you judged my sin
I'd never stand again
But I see mercy in your hands

So more than watchmen for the morning
I will wait for you, my God
When my fears come with no warning
In your Word I'll put my trust
And when the harvest time is over
And I still see no fruit
I will wait
I will wait
For You

The secret mysteries belong to you
We only know what you reveal
And all my questions that are unresolved
Don't change the wisdom of your will
In every trial and loss
My hope is in the cross
Where Your compassions never fail

i've practically lived in the Psalms since the Worship God conference last August (the topic of the conference was the unending depths and riches of the Psalms). I LOVE this CD and specifically that song. the line "though i have failed to trust your promises, You never fail to hear my prayer" has given me so much hope in approaching a God that cares and knows my needs.

so, do you have a favorite Psalm? or one that you really are clinging to right now?

I love it too, I can't stop listening to it. I agree, He really does know our needs. Even the ones that we're not aware of!

My favorite Psalm is probably Ps. 103 just because it is such a great picture of God's mercy. I'm really clinging to Ps. 32:8 lately, just the comfort that God's eye is watching me, counseling me and He will instruct me in the way that I should go. I'm so clinging to that one as of late!
