Promises

God has made promises and He will see them through, even when it seems contrary, He will fulfill His promises to us.
The Israelite' s are a great example of this, God said that He would make them a great nation and bless those who bless them and curse those who curse them. It sure seemed unlikely that this was true, with the new Pharaoh in town (Exodus 1:1-14; 2:23, 24) . This Pharaoh had never heard of Joseph so in the minds of the Israelite' s it may have seemed as if God had forgotten them. Almost as if everything that had been done previously was being undone or was done in vain.
It's interesting that it says in Exodus 2:23-24 that the people of Israel groaned because of their slavery and they cried out for help. God heard their cry and it says that He remembered His covenant with Abraham with Isaac and with Jacob, it says that "God knew" Pharaoh may have had a memory lapse but God never does!
God knows exactly where we are today, He knows exactly how much we need and how to deliver it to us. Because of Jesus the promises that were made to the Israelite' s are ours as well. We are the descendant's that outnumber the sands, more importantly we are children of God who have been adopted and we have a new identity because of the finished work of the cross. If you are a Christian you have a new identity, and know that He is not finished with us yet, He who began a good work is faithful to bring it to completion and that is a promise! (Philippians 1:6)
