I have really come to love Sam Storms, ever since his wonderful commentary-like work on the book of Colossians "The Hope Of Glory".
I recently picked up "Pleasures Evermore" I had this one in my library for sometime but just now got around to reading it, perfect timing as the Lord has been using this book greatly in my life. I'm still pretty early in the book but already there is so much great content to take in, one of the many nuggets that I've been chewing on is the following thought on being dissatisfied with anything or anyone but God alone.
" God is the only being in the universe who when received, when spiritually ingested, has the infinite capacity both to fill and satisfy without leading you to say, "Stop! Enough!" God is Himself passionate about touching His people. He loves to fill them, thrill them, to bring them delight and joy and excitement and peace and purpose, even in the midst of painful trials and confusing tragedies. God enjoys bringing us virtually to the point of saturation where we think that we have seen it all, heard it all, tasted it all, felt it all, yet precisely when we say, "enough, enough; it's time to move on to something new and fresh and more exciting." He shows us something never before seen something unexpected; a fresh taste, a new sound, something about Him yet more glorious and thrilling than we could ever have imagined."
What an amazing thought, as we go on in our walk with the Lord, we'll never get to a point where we "get" Him or understand fully just who He is. There will always be more nuances to God's personality that we will discover, God loves to surprise us!
Something that Mr. Storms has been hitting on a lot so far in Pleasures Evermore is that, we need to come to a place where sin, or more appropriately, our enjoyment of sin must be overcome by an overwhelming delight in who God is, or to enjoy God more than the temporary pleasure that sin affords. As Sam references in this work the words uttered by John Piper, "God is most glorified in us, when we are most satisfied in Him." let that be so in my life!

Storms book is one of my favorites and one I give away to college students frequently. I have used his illustration about the isle of sirens several times.
Great illustration. I would definitely rank it right up there with Desiring God, very essential reading.
