Paul David Tripp has some appropriate things to say this Thanksgiving holiday in his wonderful book, "Lost In The Middle" In the chapter, Golden Calves Mr Tripp writes the following;
" God promises to provide exactly what we need. We need the ability to stand in a world of idols and keep God central. We need the ability to trust God in moments when we don't understand what He is doing. We need the ability to be patient when God is requiring us to wait. We need the ability to cling to God when we are tempted to worship the good things He has provided. We need the ability to be content when we are tempted to be envious of others. Until we reach the other side, God will give us the power to stand against the powerful temptation to replace Him with some other glory that attempts to claim our hearts."
Even in the impossible times, In Christ we have everything that we need to stand. I am so incredibly thankful for Him and the wonderful good news of the gospel.
